I am a narrative landscape painter living in Bozeman, Montana. I love the outdoors, and when I’m not outside I can be found staring out a window with a map in hand. Reaching a nearly infinite vantage point leaves me humbled and euphoric. For some this place is the ocean, for me it is a mountaintop. Landscapes define people, and I am defined by the mountainous terrain of the Greater Yellowstone region.
Combining field studies with satellite imagery my paintings soar, presenting the eye a journey not otherwise available in a single image. Satellites allow me to see behind mountains. I can reorganize and manipulate terrain while maintaining accurate relationships within a vast landscape as I develop a final composition. I offer a new perspective of expansive landscapes, to inspire the explorer and entice the imaginative.
