Biography

Rien Poortvliet (A truly inspiring artist) has quoted..."To show what the Good Lord has Made." This has been a path for Susie Gordon, one that centers on her Christian faith, her family and the animals she uses in her art.
Susie enjoys spending time with her children ,Silken Windhounds, Friesian horses and Loki the Fox, down a back-lane country farm(living studio) in Ohio, where nature and God's splendor are her daily inspiration.
Oil is her medium of choice but she also enjoys Watercolor, Graphite/Charcoal, and Egg Tempera. With her pencil drawings she sometimes adds a tint of color to the finished drawing which is really a subtle way of how things really 'look". Soft and detailed all in one. In her work, the piece is turned again and again and upside down as she works on it to see every section as an abstract shape not just a "horse's ear". Every painting is a completed drawing before the color is applied and the painted edge is softened.  Susie has many past and present artists that continue to inspire her- Sargent, Zorn, Wyeth, Mauve, Sir Edwin Landseer, Rosa Bonhuer, Adolph Schreyer,   Rien Poortlviet  and Raymond Harris-Ching. "Being inspired by these masters are just as exciting as doing my own work."
