“ One evening several Septembers ago, I was high on a ridge, shrouded by a light haze from distant wildfires that lingered late into that fall. As the sun began its descent, the warmth of that Indian summer day gave way to a cool chill. From an adjacent ridge a bull elk began bugling as if to signal to all present in those hills, that it was time to move on and begin preparing for the coming night. This painting is a reflection on that memory and joyful feeling of being in the company of something so magnificent and wild.” - Kasey Nixon
