"APPROACH TO MT. HOOD" by Barbara Jaenicke

This piece was awarded the Silver Medal at the 2019 Oil Painters of America Western Regional Juried Exhibition. A similar piece with an alternate view of this particular spot on Mt. Hood (titled "Ascending Mt. Hood") was also featured in another OPA show--the 2020 OPA National Juried Show. Both paintings use careful design using scale and proportion to create the sense of enormous size of this mountain, while standing on it. Mt. Hood is located in Oregon, about 50 miles outside of Portland, and is the highest mountain in Oregon. Both pieces are 20" x 24" and wear the same frame, making them great companion pieces!
