Notes from The Artist:
“I have seen more of Heaven and Hell than most people dream of. But I was always a willful girl, and followed my heart, and spoke my mind. And it is high time I should tell you my story myself.” Ophelia the film
In Shakespeare's original play, Hamlet, Ophelia dies a tragic death that could be either suicide or accidental drowning. The 2019 film Ophelia reimagines Hamlet's play, with Ophelia performing a final act of self-redemption. Faking her own death, she lives her life in anonymity.
This painting can be hung in either direction. Head facing up or down, depending on the viewer's interpretation of the story and painting.
My text addition to the painting: Tell your own story, interpret the story you like. But, whatever you do, don’t let someone else write your story.
