"TRANCENDENCE" by Benjamin Victor

“‘Transcendent Justice’ depicts a female allegorical figure representing the concept of justice and the intrinsic moral compass of the individual. Her body is wrapped in weightless sheer drapery, and her face is cloaked in a translucent veil. Her impressive plume of smoke-like hair reacts to the ethereal wind which envelopes the entire sculpture. Her hands are raised high above her head and are holding two equally sized bowls, reminiscent of the pans of a balance scale. The artfully placed sheer drapery seems to mystically cover the anatomy while also accentuating the human form beneath. The larger drapery behind the figure creates a balance physically and metaphorically, as its intricately designed folds reinforce the rising action upwards. The weightlessness of the drapery, hair, and figure are further enhanced by the bowls which float above her hands as if her lightest touch is all that is needed to keep them in place.” -Benjamin Victor
