Notes from the Artist- "I had done a couple of gouache plein air studies from this beach awhile back. They were nothing spectacular but good reference simply for color notes, more specifically the color contrasts I observed from life. I was glad I held onto them. I had set aside some reference photos to eventually use for studio work, but as I got ready to begin this little studio pastel, I realized the photo reference was a bit lacking (as is often the case with photo reference), and I was able to reference just enough inspiration from the little gouache studies." -Barbara Jaenicke
