“BETTY IN THE LANDSCAPE” by Coila

Betty is the first of my Lady Longhorns to be developed through an extensive process of creating studies on both a small and large scale to arrive at this signature style, which incorporates negative space and a color field approach in the background, complementing the rhythm of design and texture of the stylized sage and grass. A portion of the painting is left unvarnished, creating a satin and matte finish throughout, while Betty’s colors are enhanced with a higher gloss varnish.
